The Santa Catarina Winery, founded in 1984 by Swedish winegrower Stellan Lundqvist, marked a milestone in Mallorca's wine industry by pioneering the large-scale cultivation of noble grape varieties like Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Syrah. During the 80s and 90s, the winery gained local prestige, but production ceased in 2002 due to personal circumstances, and its vineyards and facilities were rented out.

In 2014, the Lundqvist family decided to revive the winery, aiming to honor Stellan's legacy with a renewed focus on excellence. This ambitious revival involved uprooting 49 hectares of deteriorated vines across the Son Aloy and Es Rafal Blanc estates. The family replanted the land with native and Mediterranean grape varieties, adopting high-density planting for lower yields and superior quality.

Central to the revival is the construction of a new winery at Son Aloy, where over 90% of the grapes are now cultivated. By prioritizing meticulous vineyard management and grape quality, the Lundqvist family is set on producing exceptional wines once again. Their efforts symbolize a new chapter in Santa Catarina's story, blending tradition and innovation to reestablish its reputation as a leader in Mallorcan winemaking.
